Kids and Free Speech/Equal Rights

Saw this on a friend's facebook. It makes me really sad, and quite honestly worried about what the next generation's going to turn out like.

http://www.boston.com/community/moms/blogs/child_caring/2009/11/10_year_old_refuses_to_say_pledge_of_allegiance.html

Kids can protest all they like, great, and I'm not happy about the children who are giving him crap in a rude fashion (that's an example of Christ's love how exactly?) but if this type of stuff gets the publicity (as opposed to children who start Bible studies in their elementary schools or college students who politely ask their professors to refrain from using foul language in class) what direction is our country really headed in? I'm going to say down. Seems to me that if your opinion is unoffensive you're okay, but if you have something different than everyone else and it might offend someone you best keep it to yourself. Heck no. People talk about how conservatives are intolerant; this could get downright ugly.

(Good on the kid for speaking his mind of course. I just wish conservative kids got the same media support, and weren't called intolerant just because they stick to their beliefs and aren't on the left side of the island. The kid's allowed to do whatever he wants and while I certainly don't agree with him I'm not going to say he's not entitled to his opinion; the part that worries me is how unbalanced the media is getting now.)

I'll hopefully get back to this at a later time but wanted to put it out there and possibly get thoughts on it.

How are we to live? Pick up a Bible, not a textbook

Below the cut is a paper I wrote for my ethics class in college. I got bored, was looking for a file on my new laptop, and came across this.

Apologetics done the snarky way. (Or, top ten ways to tick off your liberal professor by simply presenting the truth.) )

Thoughts on this, after having read it again near of two years later. Of course the book I referenced was the textbook for the class, which she asked us to use as part of our final report. I'll (hopefully) be posting my anti-abortion paper as well and that will have a much better story to go along with it. For now, though, that's about it. Feel free to think about it (whether or not you know who the heck this Singer dude was).

This, dear children, is the 'title' of the lesson I'm currently working on for youth group.  With any luck I'll get it slotted in for the Wednesday of Halloween.  I'm quite excited about some of the ideas God's shoving into my brain, so be praying like mad that it works out.  :D
